Oh Man January and February are BUSY months!!! Every year that I have been in primary they have always done a 100th day of school. A few years ago we decided to switch it up and do a 101 day of school, since we were 1st grade. Get it… 101st day?? Okay we thought it was cute. I love both of these days, so I have included some activities for both below. Which one will you pick this year?

101 Day Of School

OKKKAAAY Kindergarten is sooo last year… we are 1st graders so we celebrate the 101st day of school! If you are in second grade they also have a 102 day too! Of course you could do any of these activities in any primary grade. Remember I only add in activities that fit within my schedule. You can go all out if you want, but this works for me! Here is my favorite for each subject.

Math

Penny Bank Push (trading 10 pennies for a dime then getting to $1.01)

Race to 101

101 Dalmatians Movie (READING)

After lunch we watched 101 Dalmatians. It was a great way to wrap up the day. We talked about if you do not do it in the movie theatre, don’t do it here! We did stop half way and have recess. I gave them their treat bags to have during the movie. They included:

101 day popcorn snack

-popcorn

-Scooby Snacks

-M&Ms

-bottle of water

After the movie we talked about the central message and of course their favorite part!

Writing

101 days smarter paper and craft has a dalmatian at the top with a 101 crown on it. You can do any writing you want, I am going to have them write down their favorite thing about 1st grade so far.

Phonics

I like this activity so much for the 100th day, I am glad I found this Freebie to use for the 101 day. It is the same concept. During our station time, I have them write 101 words down. They can find them in books or around the room. One of my coworkers has a basket of funny glasses that she puts out for write the room and the kids love to wear them while doing this activity. There is only one catch! They must be able to read every word that they write down. At the end of stations have them get with a partner and share the words they wrote down.

Science

Here is a STEM pack. I think the build your doggy a home and make a dalmatian out of toothpicks and marshmallows are my favorite. Although, the toothpicks and marshmallows are going to be messy and potentially dangerous in a 7-year old’s hands!

100th day of school

100 day of school dress like you are 100

What a fun day to celebrate being in school for 100 days! We dressed up as 100-year-olds, wore a shirt with 100 things on them, and not dressed up and just did activities! When we have fun days, I try to keep our schedule the same and just add activities where they would belong in my schedule. For example, if it was counting to 100 activity we would do it in our math block. Do you like full blown fun days or just like to sprinkle it in during your regular schedule?

Math

Sorting snack mix! I have 10 different types of snack and they count out ten pieces of each to make 100! You can use goldfish, cheerios, marshmallows, m & m’s really anything! Then they get to have the snack for the rest of the day. Here is a FREE mat to help them sort it.

Writing

I love to hear what they think about what being 100 years old would be like. The things they say are hilarious!! We start our writing with brainstorming what would a 100-year-old like to do, eat, wear, watch, look like, and where they would live. After that, we start our writing with our topic sentence. I have them pick 2 of the categories, but you can always do more or less, and they write a sentence with a detail about it. Then we do our closing together. I have them draw a picture of themselves as 100-year-olds at the bottom. Here is the FREE paper I use.

Phonics

During our station time, I have them write 100 words down on this FREEBIE. They can find them in books or around the room. STEM

Here is a Free file full of STEM activities for the 100th day of school. My favorites from this pack are what can you build with 100 pattern blocks and 100 Legos. For these two stations I would have them count out 100 pieces as a group first then they would start creating as a team.

No matter which one you choose, you will have a great day! I created a sign up for parents to donate items for the day. I hope that you found easy, meaningful, FREE resources for your 100 or 101 day! If you do either of these days, share your favorite idea you do!!
